Okay, so when I write wtf days I start to feel bad afterwards. I feel like I’ve been spreading the negativity instead of spreading positivity. But you know it’s all in fun right? Is it just me or is 2012 been shitty Pukey? Sorry! But do you want to hear about what happened last night? Well…. I’m going to tell you! While cooking dinner…. (keep in mind Greg was out-of-town, of course that’s when “these things” happen). So on with my story, last night while cooking SPAGHETTI for dinner I heard an odd sound coming from the front entrance. When I went over to see what the matter was I was greeted by a puking cat with an exuberant amount of puke on the floor in front of him. That’s not the bad part. As I walked closer to the puke I see worms sticking straight up you know, like the eels you see at the Vancouver Aquarium who stick straight up from the sand and squiggle around….. Well I FREAKED. Puke isn’t my thing but puke with worms in it sent me over the edge! I began dry heaving and screaming. The kids rushed upstairs to see what the commotion was about. I called Greg in a panic, sat on the kitchen floor dry heaving, eyes watering, begging Matthew to clean the puke up. Finally after seeing the distress his mother was in Matthew rose to the occasion and picked up the worm infested vomit. I thanked him and told him that when daddy is away he has to be the man in the family and that means doing ALLL the GROSS stuff. He appreciates the responsibility. I’m preparing him to be a great husband! Anyway during this time I also had Greg on the phone just so he could feel bad for me, he called the vet, the vet prescribed some worm pill and wasn’t concerned . $106.00 later for four pills and we have worm free animals….. Oh I forgot to mention that I had to get some pills for Pepsi because he decided to have a slurp of the worm infested vomit. Yes I was screaming SHUT THE GATE!!! DON”T LET THE DOGS GET IT!!!! It was too late! It was chaos!
Anyway onto more happy things, like running. Well next Sunday May 6th is my first half marathon. Greg, Chelsea and I are running 13.1 MILES. Want to know what I am most nervous about. Waking up at 4am….. The run starts a 7 am we need to be there by 6:45. This throws a whole bunch of different variables into a race that I haven’t had to deal with before. How to properly fuel at that time of the day, when to use the bathroom so you’re not “in trouble” You know those types of things.
This week has been I think what the professionals call a tempo week. I’ve been running shorter runs at a race pace, then next week I think it’s called taper and I just run a few short easy paced runs. Last week on our long run I figured out how I was going to fuel for the run, and I am feeling pretty confident in my “plan”. The one thing I am not sure about is the pace I should run at. I know a comfortable pace I can run at. But I know on race day nerves and excitement all play a role and you can run a little faster pace because of it. I think I have a plan but we will see.
Anyway it’s the weekend! Cheers!
